Deputy Chief Sherie E. Pearsall (retired) joined the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina, Police Department (CMPD) in 1994. She retired from the CMPD in 2023 as deputy chief of the Administrative Services Group, where she led the department’s employee wellness programs and recruiting and diversity initiatives. She is the former assistant vice president of public safety administration for Columbia University in New York and is currently the owner and operator of S.E. Pearsall Enterprises, LLC. In her 30 years in law enforcement, Deputy Chief Pearsall led strategic planning, programs, initiatives, and operations in key areas to include patrol operations, special operations, training and recruitment, internal affairs, professional standards, human resources, technology, communications, facilities, accreditation, community engagement, and finance, as well as planning and logistical operations. She is a past recipient of the Chief’s Award for Excellence in Policing and the Police Community Relations Award. She was featured in “Who’s Who in Black Charlotte” and Pride Magazine, recognized as one of the Mecklenburg Times’s 50 Most Influential Women, and a recipient of the MLK Growing the Dream Award. She currently serves as the president of the Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Deputy Chief Pearsall served as a North Carolina general criminal justice instructor for 20 years, and from 2012 to 2015, she served as an adjunct instructor for the International Law Enforcement Academy in Roswell, New Mexico. Deputy Chief Pearsall earned a master of business administration from Pfeiffer University and a bachelor of arts in history from Livingstone College. She is a graduate of the 50th Session of the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police, the 238th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, and Leadership Charlotte Class #30.
