Matthew Bloesch
Captain Matthew Bloesch (retired) started his law enforcement career in 1999 as a deputy in the Marin County, California, Sheriff’s Department. He worked as a patrol deputy and field training officer before making a lateral move to the Fairfield, California, Police Department (FPD) in 2004. In the FPD, Captain Bloesch worked his way up the ranks, serving as a patrol officer, Violent Crime Suppression officer, Gang Unit supervisor, Traffic Unit motor sergeant, Patrol Watch commander, and Investigations Division lieutenant and ultimately being promoted to Operations Bureau captain in 2022. He also served ancillary assignments as Honor Guard sergeant, Crisis Negotiations Team commander, and Peer Support Team coordinator. In his role as captain, he was the second-in-command and managed the operations of the Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, Youth Services, and Emergency Services Divisions within the FPD. Captain Bloesch holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice management from Union Institute and University and is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
